Approach

Modular, one central wallet

The challenge

  • A mobile money operator in South Sudan needed a technology platform capable of supporting far more than basic person-to-person transfers.

  • The target operating model required a single digital ecosystem capable of serving consumers, agents, merchants, businesses and institutional partners while progressively introducing services such as bill payments, airtime, payroll, government payments and cross-border remittances.

  • The platform also needed to operate in an environment where multiple external systems, telecom networks and service providers had to be connected progressively without disrupting existing services.

The operating model

UNIPHI implemented a modular mobile money architecture designed around a central wallet and transaction platform.

Customers interact through supported digital channels while agents provide cash-in, cash-out and assisted financial services. Business and institutional partners connect to the platform for collections, disbursements and service payments.

New services can be introduced as additional modules and integrations rather than requiring the underlying wallet platform to be rebuilt.
